Overview or Purpose
The Varanasi Development Authority (VDA) has announced an ambitious plan for the renovation of the Mini Stadium located in Shivpur. The aim of this project is to provide modern sports facilities to the citizens of the area, promote sporting talent, and raise awareness about health. This stadium is not only a key center for sports practice for the residents of Shivpur but also serves as an accessible place for people of all age groups to walk and exercise in the mornings and evenings. Proposed facilities in the stadium include the construction of high-quality fields for hockey and football, a 162 square meter volleyball court, a cricket practice net, an indoor games hall spread over approximately 200 square meters, and an open gym. Special provisions will be made for players, including separate changing rooms for male and female athletes, and separate male and female toilets. In the area of health and recreation, a 358-meter-long and 3-meter-wide walking track (1.20 meters paved and 1.80 meters unpaved) will be created. A semi-covered yoga pavilion for 50 individuals will also be built. There will be a special area for senior citizens, and a canteen will be set up to provide healthy food options. For spectators, a stand with a seating capacity of 250 will be built to make sports competitions even more exciting. The credit for this ambitious project goes to the inspiration of Minister Mr. Ravindra Jaiswal and the leadership of VDA Vice-Chairman Mr. Pulkit Garg. Their goal is to transform the Shivpur Mini Stadium into a facility that caters to the needs of both local residents and athletes. The Varanasi Development Authority believes that this initiative will not only encourage citizens to engage in sports but also inspire them to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Additionally, it will provide an excellent platform to nurture regional and local sporting talents. The renovation of the Shivpur Mini Stadium will be a major gift for the citizens of Varanasi. This project will raise awareness about sports and health and will bring a new direction to the development of the Shivpur area. The total cost of this project is ₹615.00 Lakh.
