Overview or Purpose
The Varanasi Development Authority (VDA) is taking significant steps to enhance public spaces by installing open gyms and play equipment in various parks across the city. This initiative aims to provide both children and adults with opportunities for physical fitness, recreation, and outdoor activities in a well-structured environment. The diverse range of play equipment includes a variety of exciting and engaging options for kids, such as the Multiplay Station, Toddler Combo, Animal Go Round, and the Giraffe Slide. Other fun elements like the Aligator Slide, HipHop Go Round, and several Springer Riders (including Horse, Sea Horse, Cat, Dolphin, and Turtle) are designed to bring joy to children while encouraging physical activity. Additionally, the Special Need Friendly See Saw and Wheelchair Friendly Go Round ensure inclusivity for all, including children with disabilities. For those seeking more active and strength-building exercises, a number of gym equipment options have been installed, such as the AB Climber, Multi Climber, Jungle Gym, and Elliptical Cross Trainer. There are also specialized items like the Leg Press Cum Pushup Bar, Sitting Cum Standing Twister, and Big Shoulder Wheel to enhance physical endurance and flexibility. To further engage the community, some innovative games and activities have been introduced, including the Fish Maze, Spin to Play, and the Handling Waste Game, which aim to teach children about the importance of environmental sustainability and waste management in an interactive and fun way. With this initiative, the VDA is ensuring that Varanasi’s parks are not just recreational spaces but inclusive, healthy, and fun-filled environments for people of all ages and abilities. The total cost of this project is ₹299.67 Lakh.
