Overview or Purpose

The Varanasi Development Authority has commenced the construction of model community halls in Chitauni village (Rohaniya Assembly Constituency) and Tathara village (Sevapuri Assembly Constituency). These projects aim to provide well-equipped, culturally enriched public spaces for social use in the rural areas and their surroundings. In line with the "Vocal for Local" initiative, the architecture of these buildings prominently reflects local craftsmanship. The design draws inspiration from the traditional artistry of local carpet and sari weavers. A unique feature of these buildings will be the use of precast concrete panels on the facade, adorned with artistic patterns inspired by local artisans—creating a beautiful fusion of art and durability. High-quality materials will be used in the construction, including PVC fluted ceiling panels, ACP cladding, designer floor tiles, and modern lighting fixtures by Philips. The interior decor is proposed to feature soothing colors by Asian Paints, along with soundproof panels, modern toilets, and an advanced lighting system, making the buildings suitable for various community events and uses. The community halls in Chitauni and Tathara will serve as exemplary models of ideal, modern, and culturally respectful infrastructure for rural areas—empowering local identity while meeting the essential needs of the local residents. The estimated cost of the Chitauni Community Hall is approximately ₹2 crore 73 lakh 66 thousand, while the estimated cost of the Tathara Community Hall is approximately ₹2 crore 75 lakh 58 thousand.
